Japan: Hokkaido University's Summer Institute
Attend one of the largest summer schools in Japan! Hokkaido Summer Institute has 154 courses at undergraduate and graduate level offered by world-leading researchers from around the world. The program period is spanning from June to October, with about one week for each course.

In 2025, more than 130 world-leading researchers from overseas will provide various lectures with our university’s faculty members during the summer for the HSI.
154 courses (108 graduate courses and 46 undergraduate courses) will be offered in 2025 summer. Each course conducted in English is worth 1 or 2 academic credits. Most of the courses run for one or two weeks, so students can tailor their own summer program by combining courses according to their major, interests and their schedule. Many courses have an option of online format.
Courses
Courses offered at HSI2025 are divided into four types: the Advance Research Course and the Global Liberal Arts Course, both designed primarily for students; and the HSI extension/professional program in English and the HSI extension/professional program in Japanese, both providing recurrent education intended primarily for adults. Each course is outlined below.
To find courses, go to HSI's course page (hokkaidosummerinstitute.oia.hokudai.ac.jp) and click your desired course type. You can search for courses by level (undergraduate/graduate), academic fields, pick up theme, and your interest.
