Does there lie new architectural sensibilities and perspectives on architectural practice when architects engage processes of scavenging, inventory, and reuse? What methods, aesthetics and practices are suggested or can be explored through methods of disassembly and reassembly?

During the spring semester 2023 studio Northern Grounds engaged an architectural project proposing ways to house a Center for Architectural Reuse in Tromsø, Norway. An old brewery building planned for demolition - Mack Øst, situated in the center of Tromsø, served as place for the architectural gleaning of elements, spaces and structures to be reused. The work displayed in this exhibition is a selection of the collective work produced during the semester and shows speculations and design strategies for how to architecturally work with that which already exists, through methods of disassembly and reassembly.

Talk: Architectures of Disassembly & Reassembly Northern Grounds, KTH, with students and teachers Ulrika Karlsson and Cecilia Lundbäck (Brrum and KTH) in conversation with invited guest Daniel Norell (Norell/Rodhe and Chalmers) Tuesday 29 August at 18.00
